Jesus knew…

Written by Tyson Herald on . Posted in WBC Blog

A single cross with the reflection of an empty tomb.

Mark 10:33-34 “We’re going up to Jerusalem,” Jesus said. “and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn Him to death and will hand Him over to the Gentiles, who will mock Him and spit on Him, flog Him and kill Him. Three days later He will rise.”

Jesus knew Caiphas (the high priest) would hand Him over to Pilate and the Romans.
Jesus knew they’d choose Barrabas over Him.
Jesus knew they would mock Him.
Jesus knew they would spit on Him.
Jesus knew they would flog Him.
Jesus knew they would kill Him.

Jesus knew it all, and yet went thru it all. He explicitly predicted His death at least three times during his ministry. Being the Son of God afforded Him the foreknowledge to understand not only that He’d die but the manner in which He would die. But Jesus also knew that He’d come back from the dead three days later.

Jesus knew the details of His life, death, and resurrection but He also knows you. He knows every mistake, success, failure, doubt, lack of faith, and yet He still loves you. His relentless love knows the innermost thoughts and desires of your heart and He loves you anyway.

Jesus knew and Jesus knows you. But He really wants you to know Him. Our hope is that this Easter you come to know Jesus better. If you’d like to know more about a relationship with Jesus contact us at info@westbridgedanville.com. We’d love to tell you more!

50 Years!

Written by Tyson Herald on . Posted in WBC Blog

Collage3This past weekend West Bridge celebrated 50 years together! On Saturday night we had an event in the auditorium to look back at God’s faithfulness to our church over the past 50 years. (click here for a photo gallery)

Sunday morning we gathered together to worship and continue to thank God for all He’s done. Former Senior Pastor Ron McDugle gave an inspiring message that you can listen to here.

In my opinion, there are two things that make West Bridge special. God’s grace and the faithfulness of His people. For over 50 years people have sacrificially, and consistently played their part in the body of Christ here in Danville.

Paul the apostle often thanked the believers he was writing to in his letters that make up part of the New Testament. He recounts their love and faithfulness and so we want to say thank you to you for the part you’ve played over these past 50 years.

In his letter to the Thessalonians he writes,  “We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Seems like a fitting verse to sum up so many of the people who have served and still serve here at West Bridge!

Faith, hope, and love have carried us for over 50 years and we can’t wait to see what’s next!

Extending grace

Written by Tyson Herald on . Posted in WBC Blog

GraceOften, I know I’m supposed to do good and yet I don’t.

God extends grace to me and still loves me.

I say something I shouldn’t and God still accepts me.

I have a bad attitude and God is patient with me.

The Apostle Paul reminds the church in Rome, “For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgement, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each one of you.” (Rom.12.3)

I’ve found lately I’m really good at receiving grace but not as good at extending it. Paul reminds us that God has given him the grace to live a life that’s not about Paul. He was also cognizant of the fact that God was giving him grace for each and every situation. I’m so thankful that God gives grace for each and every situation if you just ask!

So try and extend grace to others! It’s been extended to you.

Maybe we need to extend grace to a neighbor, boss, or coworker. Perhaps there’s been a situation with a family member or friend. Have you done your part of extending grace?

Kids, extend grace to your parents. They’ve never been a parent to you at this particular age. Believe it or not they’re learning just like you.

Parents, extend grace to your kids knowing that they don’t have it all figured out and you have the best chance to influence them through patient love.

You’ve been given grace not to hoard, but to give!

like CHRIST

Written by Jon McDugle on . Posted in WBC Blog

This fall we’ve been soaking in one of the most hope giving – gratitude igniting – joy producing realities on the planet – we are in the process of becoming “like CHRIST”!  As we follow Christ by faith He leads us into a process of transformation that can be summarized in one word – LOVE!

“Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” (Ephesians 5.1-2)

At West Bridge our hope is that our church family will be a little “outpost of heaven” as we express our love to God and share HIS love with one another!  If you’re looking for a church home we hope you’ll join us this Sunday.  It’s going to be a great day as discover a practical way to grow in our capacity to love God and those around us!

You are loved!

Jon
