Thin Green Line

Written by Tyson Herald on . Posted in WBC Blog

When you hear the word God, money is probably not your first thought. However, if we’re not careful, money can quickly take the place of God in your life. There’s a thin green line that often separates our heart and our head and it’s the thickness of a dollar bill.  Paul warned Timothy that “the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Some people eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” (1 Timothy 6:10) Money in and of itself is not bad. As with so many things involving our faith, it all comes down to the heart. (Matthew 6:21) It’s not about the money it’s about our heart.

So what’s makes money a terrible god?

It forces you to chase things that’ll never satisfy.

It’s never enough.

It is so temporary.

If you sense yourself serving the god of money here are a couple things you can try, to change your heart, which will change how you see money.
1. Be generous. Give to God what is God’s, and help others in need.
2. Be open. How might God want me to use my money? Try asking Him!
3. Be faithful. To God, with where and what He has given you today and see how He might bless you for that tomorrow. (Mark 10:29-31)
