For over 40 years our church has collected a special offering during the Thanksgiving season. Originally, it was used to help the church pay off existing debt. Once the debt was paid off the church decided to use the offering to help bless people locally, nationally, and globally. In past years, we've helped orphans in Africa, helped build churches in Latin America and provide mental health counseling services to local schools.
This year's Thanksgiving Offering recipients will be...
: Shelter House :
We are so thankful for your generous giving through our 2019 Thanksgiving Offering which gave us our new playground that was installed a couple months ago! Next, $20,000 will go to installing a new shelter house in the Spring. Our hope is our small groups, ministries and community will gather frequently on our campus and connect with each other!
: Twin Lakes Camp :
We've partnered with Twin Lakes Camp for over 50 years. We send over 60 kids there each summer and other groups throughout the year. With the current pandemic TLC has taken a great hit. $10,000 will go towards their new rec center and any other needs they have this year.
: Mental Health Services :
Mental health continues to be a pressing issue in our community and around the world. This has been heightened by COVID-19. In years past we've given resources to help with students and now we plan to partner with christ-centered counseling services to help with adults as well. $10,000 will go to support these services.
: Baby Box :
Reports of infant abandonment and death of infants from abandonment throughout the country continues even with the establishment of the Safe Haven Law in every state for the past 10 to 20 years. Many mothers-in-crisis want and need anonymity when surrendering an infant, due either to fear of recognition, the stigma associated with surrendering a child, or fear of prosecution due to ignorance and/or misunderstanding of the Safe Haven law. A Baby Box is a safety device provided for under state’s Safe Haven Law and legally permits a mother in crisis to safely, securely, and anonymously surrender if they are unable to care for their newborn. A Baby Box is installed in an exterior wall of a designated fire station or hospital. It has an exterior door that automatically locks upon placement of a newborn inside the Baby Box, and an interior door which allows a medical staff member to secure the surrendered newborn from inside the designated building. $2,500 will go to installing one of these Baby Boxes at the Danville Fire Department.
: Church Plant Support & Missionary Moving Expenses :
At West Bridge, we recognize that church planting is one effective tool in helping fulfill the Great Commission. As a church, we're excited to support and resource a church plant overseas. $10,000 will go to help with this as well as some of our local missionaries moving overseas.
Any amount above and beyond these listed projects would go to continue to help pay down our loan balance from our Love Makes Room project.
