Dysfunctional People

August 5, 2019 | Tyson Herald

Every family since the Garden of Eden has been and is dysfunctional. Why? Because every family is comprised of dysfunctional people.

Our dysfunction comes from our sin, which affects every area of our life.

The apostle Paul understood this and recognized this as something to be embraced though, not shamed.

1 Timothy 1:15-16 says, "Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display His immense patience as an example for those who would believe in Him and receive eternal life."

I bet you haven't thought of it this way. Your family, dysfunction and all, is an example of His immense patience.

Hopefully, this leads you and me to be more patient with ourselves and our families. This isn't an excuse to dive into more sin, but it's an invitation to be an example to a world that is so desperately looking for a Savior, even though they don't know it.
