River Crossing

We continue our Be Strong series with a powerful message from Joshua 3–4. As God’s people stepped into the unknown, they carried with them reminders of His faithfulness — markers of what He had done and promises of what He would do.

Be encouraged and equipped to live out your life mission with courageous and confidence in the God who goes before you.

Discussion Questions:

  1. In chapter 3, what do you notice about the role of the ark of the covenant as Israel prepared to cross the Jordan? What does that reveal about God’s presence and leadership among His people?
  2. When the priests stepped into the Jordan and the waters stopped (3:14-17), what details stand out to you about God’s timing and power? How does this moment reveal His faithfulness to keep His promises?
  3. In chapter 4, God commands the people to take twelve stones from the riverbed as a memorial. According to verses 6-7 and 21-24, what purpose were those stones meant to serve for future generations?
  4. Why do you think God continually calls His people to remember what He’s done? What “stones of remembrance” could you point to in your own life - ways God has proven faithful that you don’t want to forget?
  5. The ark of the covenant represented God’s presence going before His people. How does this scene point us forward to Jesus - God’s presence with us - who goes before us and makes a way through what seems impossible?
